Welcome to the Conference on Human Capital Investments:
«Learning from the field: What works and what does not in development interventions»

 

We are better educated and healthier than 50 years ago, but how much of this human capital has been translated into better and more equal opportunities for the poor? The Loyola Behavioral Lab, the Development Institute – Fundación ETEA and Middlesex University London are pleased to announce the International Conference «Learning from the field: What works and what does not in development interventions«. The focus of the conference will be on investments in human capital in developing countries.

Our keynote speakers will share their views on what types of interventions have worked well (effective interventions) and what sort of lessons we have learned from bad experiences (ineffective interventions).

 

In this call for papers, we encourage submissions of complete papers or extended abstracts that use experimental or quasi-experimental methods to evaluate interventions in the field. Methodological papers advancing the state of knowledge of programme evaluation techniques are also welcome. A scientific committee will review submitted papers. Deadlines for submission of papers and registration are enlisted here:

  • Submission of papers: NOW open
  • Deadline for submission: 5 January 2022 (New date: 17 April 2022)
  • Notification to presenters: 12 January 2022 (New date: 24 April 2022)
  • Registration: NOW open
  • Deadline for registration: 14 January 2022 (New date: 15 May 2022)

Researchers, practitioners and graduate students, who are not presenting papers but are interested in attending presentations, are welcome. All participants (including paper presenters and discussants) must register by May 15, 2022.

The event will take place in Cordoba, Spain in June 23-24, 2022.

Participation Fees: 150 € for 2 days including a social event on the 20th.
Participation Fees for students: 50 € for 2 days including a social event on the 20th.
